Captured by Paul Van Riel, the step to enter the new year, with the right amount of Rykielism

The image shows four models wearing leopard-printed furs designed by Sonia Rykiel for her Autumn Winter 1983-84 collection.

Always a champion of women’s talents and needs, Sonia Rykiel began designing clothes ion 1962, during her pregnancy, as she couldn’t find a dress she would like to wear. Soon appreciated by the likes of Audrey Hepburn. In 1968 she is said to have founded Rykielism, “a sociological and stylistic movement’. Rykielism campaigns for the liberation of women through intelligence and irreverence, merged with proud sensuality.

Rykielism is about having the freedom to be oneself. It’s a way of life that’s chic and offbeat.
