The first object selected by the team at Museo del Tessuto di Prato that shows the richness of their collection

The ‘heraldic’ fabrics are characterized by a pattern that reproduces a noble house or an illustrious family’s dentifying emblems. These fabrics are often used for public occasions, such as parades, parties and tournaments.

This fragment shows the insignia of the Medici family positioned in the center of a rosette: seven red spheres on a golden background. There are also the colours of the Medici livery: white and red (also the colours of the Municipality of Florence), green (colour of the family), blue and yellow/gold (in memory of “French ball” granted to Piero il Gottoso by Louis XI).
