EFHA’s mega reading list

08.09.2026
exhibition cataloguesfashion bibliographyfashion booksreading list

A non-exhaustive, ever-growing selection of titles that will make you “proficient” in fashion

On the occasion of the International Day of Literacy, the European Fashion Heritage Association initiates a mega-reading list of books and volumes that its team find particularly relevant for anyone who wishes to approach, dig deeper, or even revise, any aspect of the fashion system and the heritage world. This list is divided in thematic section: Fashion Theory, Fashion Histories, Biographies, Making and Materials, Fashion Exhibition Making, Fashion Photography and Art Direction, Fashion Printed Matter, Ethics & Sustainability, Consumer Culture, Encyclopedias. Moreover, a final section, EFHA World, lists exhibition catalogues and volumes from the institutions that are part of the Association, from the most recent to – more or less – 2014, year in which EFHA was founded. The list will be constantly updated as publications keep being published and institutions keep printing their catalogues. Enjoy!
